Netiquette & Security






·        Netizen = net + citizen
·        A term given to those who live, work and spend time on the internet.
·        Being a Netizen, one must follow certain rules and courtesies, just as normal human being.

Definition:
·        Netiquette = net + etiquette
·        Etiquette guidelines for posting messages to online services.
·        Is a set of social conventions that facilitate interaction over networks, ranging from Usenet and mailing lists to blogs and forums.
·        Netiquette, or net etiquette, refers to etiquette on the Internet.
·        When surfing the Internet, you must follow certain standard to communicate with others.
·        Since no one owns the Internet, netiquette is basically a mixed of common sense and courtesy.
·        You must not forget that there is a human being at the end of the telephone line when using Internet.
·        Good netiquette involves respecting others' privacy and not doing anything online that will annoy or frustrate other people.
·        Three areas where good netiquette is highly stressed are e-mail, online chat, and newsgroups.

The rules:
·        Respect other participants
·        Respect people's time and bandwidth
·        Only post relevant items
·        Be forgiving
·        Represent yourself well
·        Be brief, precise, and clear
·        Be quick, and don't monopolize the chat
